Knee knacker 50 km trail race July 9/11

This race takes place in the North shore trails and runs along the Braden Powell trail from horseshoe bay to deep cove . Runners will climb 8000 ft and a loss of 8300 feet .

The Knee knacker has been on my bucket list since I joined mountain madness running club .

I started to train for this race since last summer after I was starting for feel better form the bike accident . I decided that even though I was so scared to do this race and thoughts of not finishing haunted me I just had to try .

Feb 28 was the lottery draw and I was picked , so that meant time to get a plan together . I want to finish , and I want to do the best I can !

As the months went on I trained every weekend in the north shore and also on mid week run . I biked 2 days a week and did yoga near the end .

Race day ....I have 10 hrs to get this race finished with 4 cut offs

* Cypress Bowl 9:00am (3 hours) I was stressed fo rthis one because of all the SNOW
* Cypress Bowl 9:00am (3 hours)
* Cleveland Dam 11:00am (5 hours)

* Mt. Seymour Road 3:15pm (9.25 hours)
* Panorama Park, Deep Cove, finish line, 4:00pm (10 hours)
* 11:00am (5 hours)
* Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve 1:30 pm (7.5 hours)
* Mt. Seymour Road 3:15pm (9.25 hours)
* Panorama Park, Deep Cove, finish line, 4:00pm (10 hour )

I made all my cuts off by at least a Hr and I felt great until I twisted my ankle at the end of cypress and it was hard to run down hill . I then had to stop and pad the ankle it was so bruised .

Still I was having the best days and having fun in the trials .I loved all the support from people watching ...Kids high fiving me as I ran by , and the Volunteers were amazing wow I cant thank them enough .

I finished the race in 8hr 44 minutes THE BEST DAY EVER and I will be doing this race every year I hope ...fingers crossed I get in next year ;)
